LONDON, UK (SNN) – The London based, vice president of Akali Dal Amritsar Youth Wing, Avtar Singh Khanda, issued a statement to the press countering the outlandish claims by the Indian media and Indian Prime Minister Narindera Modi in regards to his alleged involvement in IED explosives training at UK Gurdwaras.
The Indian media, citing unnamed’ intelligence sources’, claimed that Avtar Singh Khanda and Babbar Khalsa International-UK’s Paramjit Singh Pamma were ‘radicalizing’ Sikh youths and training them to assemble IEDs with ‘locally available chemicals’ and further contended that such classes were conducted in Guru Nanak Gurdwara, Spark Hill, Stratford, Birmingham in December 2014) and Gurdwara Singh Sabha, Glasgow in January 2015.
Avtar Singh stated these allegations were were nothing but “piles of lies” and even simple facts such as his age and years of residency in the UK have been wrongly reported by the Indian media. He asserted that he has never even visited the Gurdwara Sahib where he was reportedly providing the “IED training.”
Bhai Khanda, whose father and uncle were murdered by the Indian Government in the early 1990’s, stated that the Indian Government wants to tarnish the image of the Sikhs living abroad by circulating these type of baseless charges, and that he will be approaching the British authorities to look into these false allegations and uncover the India Government’s false propaganda and web of lies.

ਮੈ ਅਵਤਾਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਖੰਡਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਪੱਖ ਮੀਡੀਆ, ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਖਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਪਿੱਛਲੇ 2, 3 ਦਿਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਮੀਡੀਆ ਵਲੋਂ ਮੇਰੇÿ ਉਪਰ ਬਹੁਤ ਝੂਠੇ ਦੋਸ਼ ਲਾਏ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਨੇ ਤੇ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੇ ਪਰਧਾਨ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਨਰਿੰਦਰ ਮੋਦੀ ਵਲੋਂ ਬ੍ਰਿਟਨ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਦਿਤੇ ਗਏ ਡੋਜ਼ਰ ਵਿਚ ਮੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਬਿਲਕੁਲ ਬੇਬੁਨਿਆਦ ਹੈ ।
ਜੋ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਮੀਡੀਆ ਵਿਚ ਕਹੀਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਤਾਂ ਪੂਰਾ ਝੂਠ ਦਾ ਪੁਲੰਦਾ ਹੈ । ਮੀਡੀਆ ਕਹਿ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮੇਰੀ ਉਮਰ 35 ਸਾਲ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਮੈਂ 7,8 ਸਾਲ ਪੇਹਿਲਾਂ ਅਸਾਈਲਮ ਅਪਲਾਈ ਕੀਤੀ ਸੀ । ਜਦ ਕਿ ਮੇਰੀ ਉਮਰ 27 ਸਾਲ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਯੂਕੇ ਆਏ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਪੰਜ ਸਾਲ ਤੇ 3,4 ਮਹੀਨੇ ਹੋਏ ਨੇ ।
ਜਿਸ ਸਪਾਰਕ ਹਿਲ ਰੋਡ ਗੁਰੁ ਘਰ ਦਾ ਨਾਂ ਅਖਬਾਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਮੈਂ ਅੱਜ ਤਕ ਉਹ ਗੁਰੂ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਕਿਤੇ ਗਿਆ ਹੀ ਨਹੀ। ਯੂ ਕੇ ਵਿਚ ਉਨ੍ਹੀ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਜਨਸੰਖਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਿੰਨੇ ਇਥੇ ਸੀ ਸੀ ਟੀ ਕੈਮੇਰੇ ਨੇ । ਜੇ ਅਜੇਹੀ ਗੱਲ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਤਾਂ ਯੂ ਕੇ ਦੀ ਅਜੰਸੀ ਜਾਂ ਯੂ ਕੇ ਦੀ ਗੋਰਮਿੰਟ ਇਸ ਬਾਰੇ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਨੋਟਿਸ ਲੈਂਦੀ । ਭਾਰਤੀ ਮੀਡੀਆ ਤੇ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ ਯੂ ਕੇ ਦੀ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਤੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ (ਨੂੰ) ਬੇਵਕੂਫ਼ ਬੰਨਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ । 30,32 ਸਾਲ ਬੀਤ ਜਾਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਵੀ ਭਾਰਤ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਤੋਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿਚ ਸਿਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਾਤਲÿ ਤਾਂ ਲਭੇ ਨਹੀ ਗਏ ਤੇ ਇਹ ਵਿਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਬੇਬੁਨਿਆਦੀ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਦਸ ਕੇ ਝੂਠ ਬੋਲ ਕੇ ਸਿਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਅਕਸ਼ÿ ਖਰਾਬ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਨੇਂ ।

ਪੇਹਿਲਾਂ ਵੀ ਇਸੇ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇÿ ਅਤਵਾਦੀ ਕਹਿ ਕੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਜੀ ਤੇ ਤਾਇਆ ਮੇਰੇ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਤਰਾਂ ਲੱਖਾਂ ਨੌਜਵਾਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਖਤਮ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੋਈ ਵਧੀਕੀ ਦੇ ਸੰਬੰਧ ਵਿਚ ਅਸੀਂ ਯੂ ਕੇ ਦੇ ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਅਦਾਰਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਪਰਕ ਕਰਾਂਗੇ ਤੇ ਭਾਰਤ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਦੇ ਇਸ ਝੂਠ ਨੂੰ ਨੰਗਾ ਕਰਾਂਗੇ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਾਂਗੂ ਹੋਰ ਨੋਜਵਾਨਾ ਦੀਆਂ ਜਿੰਦਗੀਆਂ ਬਰਬਾਦ ਹੋਣੋਂ ਬਚ ਸਕਣ ।

Informal Translation of Avtar Singh Khanda’s press statement:
In regards to the false allegations made against me in the last few days by the Indian media, I, Avtar Singh Khanda, want to present my side of the story to the media and public.ÿ My name was mentioned in the dossier given by the Indian Prime Minister Narinder Modi to the British Government without any basis.
The allegations published about me in the media are completely false. The media states that I am 35 years old and that I applied for asylum here 7-8 years ago, but in reality I am 27 years old and I have only been in the UK for 5 years and 3 or 4 months.
I have never ever been to the Spark Hill Gurdwara that is mentioned in the media reports.ÿ The UK has an abundance of CCTV cameras installed for its population, if these allegations were true, then surely they would have come under the notice of the (intelligence) agencies of the UK, and Government itself.
The Indian media along with the Indian Government is attempting to mislead and fool the British community and Government. The Indian Government has always been ostracized the Sikh community, even after 32 years the Government still continues to fabricate these types of cases against the Sikhs. (In recent events), the Indian authorities have not arrested the killers of the two murdered Sikhs, but putting forth groundless allegations toÿ tarnish the image of Sikhs living in foreign countries.
It has been my obligation, as the vice-president of Youth Wing of Akali Dal Amritsar, to expose to the media and public the gross atrocities being committed against my (Sikh) community (by the Indian Government) – this has been my responsibility for the last 4 years. Because of this I am being targeted by the Indian Government and intelligence agencies and slandering me by labeling me an “extremist.”
This, of course, has impacted me and my family on a personal level. Like thousands of other Sikhs, my father and uncle were murdered and eliminated by the Indian Government after being labeled “extremists.”
I am planning to meet and clarify my situation with the appropriate representatives of the British Government so lies being spread by the India Government can be uncovered so the lives of others like me are not ruined any further.
